Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar spoke at the ECI’s All India Media Conference 2026, discussing the transparent conduct of elections. He highlighted that Indian elections adhere to the country’s laws and Election Commission instructions. The electoral process in India undergoes concurrent audits by stakeholders.
CEC Gyanesh Kumar emphasized the dynamic nature of India’s Electoral Rolls, which include around 95 crore citizens. He mentioned the involvement of over 12 lakh Booth Level Officers and 15 lakh Booth Level Agents as “concurrent auditors.” The recent high voter turnout in Assembly elections reflects the trust in India’s electoral system and democracy.
Expressing gratitude for electors’ participation in the Special Intensive Revision process, CEC Gyanesh Kumar underscored the importance of transparency in Indian elections. The conference focused on educating participants about electoral processes, transparency measures, and the roles of key stakeholders. Participants were briefed on the responsibilities of Booth Level Agents, Polling Agents, and Counting Agents in ensuring transparency in elections.
The conference also included group demonstrations on Electoral Roll Preparation, Polling Process, and Counting Process. These demonstrations aimed to provide media professionals with hands-on experience and insight into the statutory forms used in concurrent audits. The sessions concluded with a question-and-answer segment with CEC Gyanesh Kumar.
