CEC Gyanesh Kumar urged voters in Jammu and Kashmir to actively engage in democratic processes. He underscored the significance of the voters’ list and the transparency of elections, which are monitored by political parties and candidates. The CEC commended the efforts of all BLOs for their contributions to democracy.
During his visit, CEC Gyanesh Kumar participated in various programs in the Valley, interacting with voters and BLOs in Budgam district. He also assessed the election machinery at the grassroots level and reviewed electoral initiatives being implemented. The visit aims to strengthen voter engagement, enhance field-level preparedness, and promote democratic participation.
CEC Gyanesh Kumar’s visit included meetings with electoral stakeholders and discussions on electoral awareness. He was welcomed by Chief Electoral Officer Sanjeev Verma and other officials upon his arrival at Sheikh-ul-Alam International Airport. Gyanesh Kumar assumed office as the 26th Chief Election Commissioner of India on February 19, 2025, after serving as an Election Commissioner since March 15, 2024.
