Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of West Bengal, Manoj Kumar Agarwal, dismissed allegations made by Trinamool Congress general secretary Abhishek Banerjee regarding the death of an elderly voter at a polling booth in Udaynarayanpur. The CEO termed the accusations as fear-mongering.

According to the CEO’s statement, the voter, Purna Chandra Dolui (82), collapsed due to age-related illness after casting his vote at booth number 245 in Udaynarayanpur. The CEO clarified that the collapse occurred in the presence of Dolui’s son, with no manhandling by central forces.

The Election Commission of India (ECI)-appointed general observer for Udaynarayanpur recorded the incident, confirming that the collapse happened post-voting and without any external interference. The CEO emphasized the professionalism and dedication of the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) personnel in ensuring fair and peaceful elections.

The CEO expressed regret over the politicization of the elderly citizen’s death, highlighting the importance of upholding truth in democratic processes and condemning fear-mongering tactics.
