A two-day Chief Engineers’ Works Conference of all Border Roads Organisation (BRO) projects in the Eastern Region took place in Guwahati. Key stakeholders discussed the road map for the current financial year and devised strategies for infrastructure development. The conference, chaired by Jitendra Prasad, Additional Director General Border Roads (East), occurred on April 28 and 29.
The event brought together all seven Chief Engineers of BRO projects in the Eastern Region and the Commandant of the Engineer Base Workshop (EBW). Discussions at the conference focused on setting goals for the ongoing financial year and creating practical strategies to achieve them. Emphasis was placed on enhancing operational efficiency, resource utilization, and timely project execution.
The conference highlighted the importance of adopting best practices to improve project delivery standards and execution timelines. Additional DGBR (East) stressed the need to maintain high infrastructure development standards for operational effectiveness and public trust. The commitment made at the conference aimed to achieve higher performance benchmarks and expedite the completion of strategic road projects.
To enhance connectivity and strengthen strategic infrastructure in border areas, the Government of India established the Border Roads Organisation in 1960. The BRO, operating under the Ministry of Defence, combines civilian expertise with military discipline. It undertakes infrastructure development for key ministries and agencies, supporting security forces by ensuring seamless connectivity in challenging terrains.
