The Chief Justice of India, Surya Kant, addressed the 18th Convocation Ceremony of the National Law University in Jodhpur, emphasizing the need for law to adapt to societal changes. He compared early legal systems to fortresses but stressed the importance of law evolving into a forum for dialogue and accountability. CJI Kant highlighted the dynamic nature of law, cautioning against viewing it as a static entity.

Drawing from history, he underscored the evolution of legal principles, emphasizing the living nature of the Indian Constitution. He urged graduates to prioritize making the law more understandable and inclusive, rather than exclusive and complex. The CJI commended NLU Jodhpur for its role in producing legal professionals across various sectors and encouraged graduates to shape an open legal forum.

In his closing remarks, CJI Kant encouraged the graduating students to be advocates of accessibility and openness in the legal field. He congratulated the attendees and wished them success in their future endeavors.
