With the ongoing Khejri tree conservation movement in Rajasthan’s Bikaner impacting fasting saints and protesters, Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma has intervened. Following his directive, Minister K.K. Vishnoi visited the protest site, engaging with the demonstrators. Accompanied by Rajasthan BJP MLAs Pabba Ram Bishnoi and Jaswant Singh Bishnoi, Minister Vishnoi assured the protesters of efforts to address their concerns.
Public representatives, including Minister Vishnoi and MLA Jaswant Singh Bishnoi, met with fasting saints and members of the Environmental Struggle Committee to understand their demands and offer reassurance. Amidst the protest, a fasting protester, Mukharam Dharniya, collapsed, necessitating immediate medical attention. Another female protester also lost consciousness, prompting swift medical intervention.
Earlier, fasting saints Laldas and Mangilal were hospitalized in Bikaner due to deteriorating health conditions. Leaders of the Environmental Struggle Committee, Parasram Bishnoi, Ramgopal Bishnoi, and Subhash Bishnoi, reiterated their commitment to continue the hunger strike until the state government provides written assurances on their demands. The protest demanding Khejri tree conservation and a Tree Protection Law in front of the Bikaner Collectorate entered its fourth day with 458 environmental activists, including saints and women, participating in the hunger strike.
