Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay is gearing up to host the TVK flagship Education Awards program in Chennai later this month or in early August. This event will recognize district toppers in the Class 10 and Class 12 State Board examinations. It holds special significance as it will be the first edition of the Education Awards under Vijay’s leadership as Chief Minister.
The Education Awards, a long-standing initiative of the TVK, will see Vijay felicitating the recipients for the first time in his capacity as the head of the state government. Preparations for the program are in the final stages, with district secretaries tasked to identify eligible students and coordinate their travel to Chennai. Parents of the awardees will also be invited to attend the function.
The ceremony, likely to be held in the last week of July or the first week of August, is expected to bring together students from across Tamil Nadu at a private hotel in Mahabalipuram. Launched in 2023, the Education Awards aim to acknowledge academic excellence among government and private school students. The top three scorers in Classes 10 and 12 from every Assembly constituency receive awards personally from Vijay.
Despite Vijay now being Chief Minister, the Education Awards will continue as a TVK initiative. The awards, including gold medals and certificates, will be presented by the party and not the state government. This reaffirms the program’s identity as a significant educational outreach effort of the organization.
