In a recent development in Maharashtra’s political arena, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has directly challenged Shiv Sena-UBT Chief Uddhav Thackeray to recite or read two pages of the ‘Ram Raksha Stotra,’ a sacred hymn dedicated to Lord Ram. This challenge follows Thackeray’s announcement of a ‘Ram Raksha’ agitation in Nagpur on July 18 to address alleged irregularities in the Ayodhya Ram Mandir construction. Fadnavis expressed disapproval of using Lord Ram’s name for political purposes and questioned Thackeray’s suitability to lead such protests.
Expressing his disapproval of politicizing Lord Ram’s name, Chief Minister Fadnavis criticized Thackeray for planning a ‘Ram Raksha’ agitation without being able to recite the hymn himself. Fadnavis offered to recite the entire Ram Raksha with Thackeray if needed, emphasizing the importance of being able to read or recite it. He also dismissed Thackeray’s recent criticism regarding activist Sonam Wangchuk’s treatment, labeling Thackeray as “hopeless and frustrated.”
Responding to Uddhav Thackeray’s statements, Chief Minister Fadnavis characterized Thackeray as a dejected and frustrated individual. Fadnavis criticized Thackeray’s political stance and dismissed his remarks on various issues, including the treatment of Sonam Wangchuk. Additionally, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde weighed in, describing Thackeray’s actions as delayed wisdom and accusing his party of engaging in low-level politics.
Chief Minister Fadnavis also addressed Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s social media posts regarding exam paper leaks. Fadnavis highlighted proactive actions taken by the Maharashtra government and police, resulting in the arrest of culprits before the exam, leading to its postponement. He criticized Gandhi’s comments and emphasized that the government’s swift action prevented leaks in other states as well. Fadnavis assured that upcoming exams would be conducted properly, with dates to be announced soon.
