Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has instructed all government departments to make significant progress by August 15, streamline services, and reduce paperwork. He aims to position Maharashtra as a state with highly accessible government services. Under the Governance Process Re-engineering initiative, the government is working to enhance accessibility, transparency, and technology integration in public services.
Fadnavis emphasized the need for a structured six-step process for each service under the GPR framework. This process involves various stages like report formulation, consultations with the Chief Minister’s Office, technical development, issuance of Government Resolution, and final testing. Departments are required to reach at least the fifth stage by mid-August to ensure services are ready for final testing.
Efforts are underway to revamp public services by merging duplicate services and discontinuing outdated ones. The government is transitioning services to digital platforms like MahaDBT 2.0, Maitri, and Aaple Sarkar 2.0 to offer faster and transparent services. The Information Technology Department has been tasked to establish a robust technical infrastructure to prevent any glitches during service delivery and meet strict deadlines.
In a bid to enhance governance through technology, Fadnavis launched two key projects by the Electronics, Information Technology, and Artificial Intelligence Department: ‘Data Analytics as a Service’ and the ‘Mini Setu Kendra.’ These initiatives aim to improve accountability, reduce malpractice, save state funds, and enhance transparency in public service delivery. Additionally, police facilitation centers in Gadchiroli district are being transformed into citizen service centers to ensure effective delivery of government services in remote areas.
