Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, speaking at an event in Ujjain, revealed that significant infrastructure upgrades are underway in preparation for the Simhastha Kumbh Mela 2028. The roads connecting to Ujjain are being transformed into four-lane and six-lane highways to accommodate the event’s attendees.
The state government is dedicated to ensuring that the upcoming Simhastha in Ujjain is both exceptional and historically significant. Construction of approximately 30 kilometers of new ghats along the Shipra River is in progress. Additionally, Ujjain is experiencing advancements in trade and industry, with projects like Vikram Udyogpuri and a Medical Device Park rapidly moving forward.
Chief Minister Yadav highlighted the development of Ujjain not only as a religious destination but also as a center for culture, industry, and global recognition. Plans for a new airport, helicopter services, and industrial areas are in motion to enhance religious tourism and economic growth. The Ujjain Development Authority (UDA) is overseeing projects totaling around Rs 662.46 crore, including the establishment of a new township and improvements to water supply and sewer systems.
Chief Minister Yadav recently initiated various development initiatives linked to Simhastha 2028, amounting to Rs 662.46 crore. The state government has allocated Rs 3,060 crore in the 2026-27 Budget for Simhastha preparations and has sought financial support from the Central government.
