Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar of Karnataka encouraged industries to focus their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts on enhancing primary education. He announced the formation of a dedicated team by the Karnataka government to oversee CSR projects statewide at the Global CSR and Sustainability Summit 2026 organized by the Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FKCCI).

Shivakumar praised FKCCI for its role in Karnataka’s progress, emphasizing the importance of collaboration for success. He highlighted the significance of CSR, viewing it as an investment in sustainable development rather than charity, and acknowledged the contributions of responsible corporate leaders in this regard.

Reflecting on urbanization trends in Karnataka, the Chief Minister noted the increasing urban population, particularly in Bengaluru. He underscored the city’s global prominence, attributing it to visionary leadership and a robust education system. Shivakumar also emphasized the state’s industrial and technological advancements, including the growth of key sectors like Electronic City and ITPL.

Stressing the importance of labor welfare, Shivakumar advocated for a balanced approach that supports both employers and employees. He highlighted the state’s IT sector’s significant employment numbers and the talent pool it contributes to the global workforce. Additionally, he addressed the need for enhancing primary education, calling on corporates to invest in rural educational infrastructure and support students at a global standard.
