Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari praised the West Bengal Police for their successful recovery of a significant amount of illegal firearms from a pond in Sandeshkhali, North 24 Parganas district. Adhikari applauded the Special Task Force (STF) for their extensive raids in various locations near Sarberia Bazaar, Kumrakhali, Basanti, and Sandeshkhali based on precise intelligence inputs. The operation led to the seizure of a large cache of illegal weapons and ammunition aimed at disrupting peace.

Following the discovery of firearms and cartridges hidden in a pond belonging to a Trinamool Congress leader, the Chief Minister expressed his appreciation for the prompt actions and coordination of the West Bengal Police, the STF Team, and Basirhat Police District Personnel. The STF, acting on a tip-off, conducted a search in the Manipur area of Sandeshkhali, uncovering the hidden cache of weapons. However, the owners of the pond, Trinamool leader Robin Das and his brother Gopal Das, had fled the area.

Suvendu Adhikari emphasized the government’s commitment to eradicating illegal arms and ammunition, stating that such weapons were intended for use against civilians, particularly BJP workers. He highlighted the efforts to restore law and order in the state and pledged to continue tracking down and recovering illegal firearms across West Bengal. Adhikari affirmed the government’s dedication to eliminating criminal activities and political terrorism to ensure peace, safety, and democracy in the state.
