Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar of Karnataka has called on football fans in the state to maintain peace and show restraint while watching the FIFA World Cup final. Special permission has been granted by the state government for hotels and restaurants to stay open until 3.30 am for the final match. The Chief Minister emphasized the importance of remaining calm and enjoying the game peacefully, regardless of the match’s outcome.
He highlighted the installation of cameras by the police at various locations and urged young fans to celebrate responsibly without losing control. The decision to extend food service timings on specific days for the FIFA World Cup final was made in response to requests from enthusiastic football supporters. The relaxation in timings was granted while ensuring public safety and law and order in the city.
In addition to addressing the football viewing arrangements, Chief Minister Shivakumar also discussed the state’s readiness to combat the prevailing drought situation. He stressed that ministers, district administrations, and police personnel are working tirelessly without breaks during these challenging times. The government has allocated funds to release Rs 1 crore for each taluk to meet the drinking water needs in light of the drought conditions.
The state of Karnataka is currently facing concerns over an impending drought, leading the government to intensify preparations for ensuring sufficient drinking water supply and effective disaster management measures across various districts.
