Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay’s final movie, ‘Jana Nayagan,’ is set to premiere on nearly 1,000 screens in Tamil Nadu with massive fan excitement and record-breaking advance bookings. Ahead of the release, Vijay enjoyed a private viewing of the film with his family at the Tagore Film Centre in Chennai.

The exclusive screening was graced by Vijay’s parents, Chief Secretary Sai Kumar, Private Secretary Senthil Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary (Finance) Siddiq, and the film’s producer Venkata Narayana. Originally slated for January 9, the movie faced delays due to certification issues from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).

Despite facing online leaks, ‘Jana Nayagan’ continues to draw immense public interest, evident in the rapid sell-out of online ticket reservations. The film’s domestic advance bookings have surpassed Rs 15 crore, with trade analysts predicting an opening-day collection ranging from Rs 50 crore to Rs 60 crore nationwide.

Fans have raised concerns about black-market ticket sales, with reports of tickets being resold at inflated prices. The movie’s release has sparked celebratory events across Tamil Nadu, with tier-II city theaters planning special programs and DJs playing Vijay’s popular songs before screenings.

Theatrical owners remain optimistic about the film’s success, citing the enduring appeal of Vijay’s movies. ‘Jana Nayagan’ marks a significant milestone for Vijay, positioning him as the second Tamil Nadu Chief Minister to have a film release during his tenure, following M.G. Ramachandran.

The ruling Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) has instructed its officials to oversee orderly celebrations surrounding the film’s release, emphasizing the historic significance of Vijay’s transition from a cinema icon to Chief Minister. Despite receiving an ‘A’ certificate, limiting the audience to adults, party leaders view the movie’s release as a landmark achievement in Vijay’s career.
