Chief Secretary V. Srinivas has instructed to maximize the use of products from the HPCL Rajasthan Refinery within the state. This move aims to bolster Rajasthan’s industrial ecosystem and create new opportunities for investment, jobs, and revenue growth. Diesel production at the refinery is scheduled to kick off this month, marking a significant milestone for the state’s energy project.
Once operational, the refinery will annually produce about 4 million metric tonnes of diesel, in addition to around 1 million tonnes each of petrol and polypropylene. It will also manufacture various petrochemical products like LLDPE, HDPE, butadiene, benzene, toluene, and sulphur. The HPCL Rajasthan Refinery, in which the Rajasthan government holds a 26% stake, is considered a prestigious project for the state.
To enhance the marketing and utilization of refinery products within Rajasthan, a high-level coordination committee will be formed under the chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary Aparna Arora. This committee, which includes HPCL Director (Marketing) Amit Garg and representatives from relevant departments, will oversee these efforts. The project is expected to not only boost the state’s economy but also create new avenues for industrial growth and employment.
Efforts are underway to establish a strong market for refinery products within Rajasthan through coordinated actions with various departments. Hindustan Petroleum has proposed setting up approximately 300 POL retail outlets across the state. HPCL is working on an action plan to establish these outlets and is eager to collaborate with state government departments to meet their fuel needs.
