Hollywood filmmaker Christopher Nolan, known for his Imax camera preference, recently guided Ryan Coogler into using the high-resolution format. Nolan, a two-time Oscar winner, encouraged Coogler to film his 2025 movie ‘Sinners’ in Imax, a decision that led to Autumn Durald Arkapaw winning the Academy Award for Best Cinematography. Nolan shared that he enjoys showcasing the potential of the Imax format to fellow filmmakers.
Nolan’s film ‘The Odyssey’ is the first entirely shot with Imax cameras, marking a milestone in his career. His previous works like ‘Oppenheimer’, ‘Tenet’, ‘Dunkirk’, ‘Interstellar’, ‘The Dark Knight Rises’, ‘Inception’, and ‘The Dark Knight’ also utilized Imax technology. Nolan expressed his excitement about the evolution of filmmaking systems and his hope that other filmmakers would follow suit in filming entirely in Imax.
The star-studded cast of Nolan’s film includes Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong’o, Robert Pattinson, Charlize Theron, and more. The movie, an adaptation of a classic tale, narrates the journey of Odysseus, portrayed by Matt Damon, as he navigates challenges and mythical encounters on his way back to his wife Penelope post the Trojan War.
