Chung Mong-gyu has stepped down as the president of the Korea Football Association following South Korea’s disappointing performance in the World Cup. This decision comes after the exit of head coach Hong Myung-bo, as South Korea finished third in Group A with three points, failing to advance to the knockout stage. Despite acknowledging both successes and failures during his tenure, Chung expressed confidence in Korean football’s ability to overcome challenges and succeed in the future.
Carlos Queiroz has also resigned as the coach of Ghana after the team’s early exit from the World Cup with a 1-0 loss to Colombia in the last-32 stage. Despite leading Ghana to the knockout stage with a commendable performance in the group matches, including a draw with England and a win over Panama, Queiroz’s team struggled against Colombia. In his departure statement, Queiroz emphasized the importance of learning from setbacks and striving for continuous improvement in football and life.
Queiroz took over as Ghana’s coach in April following the dismissal of Otto Addo due to a series of losses. Apart from the World Cup matches, Queiroz also managed Ghana in a defeat against Mexico and a draw with Wales. His resignation reflects a mix of pride in the team’s achievements and a desire for greater success in the future.
