A 10-member team of church leaders in Manipur visited Senapati district to address ethnic tensions between the Naga and Kuki tribes. The leaders engaged with representatives of various organizations to discuss the current crisis and appeal for the release of hostages from both sides. Rev. Dr. Namseng R. Marak emphasized the need for restraint, patience, and forgiveness to restore peace in the region.
Another group of church leaders extended condolences to the families of the victims in Kangpokpi district. The delegation, comprising members from different Baptist organizations, aimed to promote harmony and peace among the affected communities. Efforts by authorities and community leaders led to the release of 30 hostages from both tribes after the recent unrest.
Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh commended the church leaders for their peace-building initiatives in Manipur. The church’s joint appeal from various Baptist bodies highlighted the importance of acknowledging truth for lasting peace. The leaders urged communities to reject rumors, uphold brotherhood, and work together for reconciliation and stability in the state.
