The CID of Jharkhand police conducted a raid at the residence of L. Khiangte, former Chief Secretary and past Chairman of the Jharkhand Public Service Commission. This raid is part of an investigation into alleged irregularities in the 14th Combined Civil Services Examination. The CID team examined documents related to the JPSC during the raid, but no official information on any recovered material has been disclosed yet.

The CID’s actions are linked to an FIR filed after controversy arose regarding the results of the 14th Combined Civil Services Preliminary Examination. Case No. 16/2026 has been registered by the CID, which is probing various aspects of the examination process. On July 21, a joint team of the CID and Ranchi Police conducted raids at multiple locations, including the JPSC headquarters and the examination-conducting agency’s office, as directed by the state government.

During the raids, investigators seized examination-related documents, computer records, hard disks, pen drives, and other digital evidence. Following these events, L. Khiangte resigned from his position as JPSC Chairman, and the CID, based on initial findings, registered an FIR on July 22 leading to the arrest of five individuals. Those arrested include JPSC Deputy Examination Controller Shweta Kumari Gupta, TDPL Director Ramveer Singh, and company associates Mohd Usman, Mohd Ebad, and Abhay Kumar Tiwari.

All the accused were presented before a court on Wednesday and remanded to judicial custody. Investigators are currently scrutinizing the examination’s conduct, result preparation process, digital data management, and the roles of officials and the agency in key examination decisions. The raid on Khiangte’s residence is part of this comprehensive investigation into the examination process.

The controversy surrounding the 14th JPSC Preliminary Examination results emerged due to allegations of irregularities, lack of transparency, and procedural lapses. In response to these claims, the state government assigned the CID to conduct a thorough investigation. The JPSC has postponed the 14th Combined Civil Services Main Examination-2025 and deferred all upcoming examinations listed in its Examination Calendar-2026.
