The CISF Vande Mataram Coastal Cyclothon–2026, a national public outreach initiative, began at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium in New Delhi. Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai inaugurated the event, which kicks off a 25-day journey covering 6,500 kilometers along India’s eastern and western coastlines. The cycling teams will travel through nine coastal States and two Union Territories, concluding in Kochi on February 22, 2026.
The flag-off ceremony, attended by dignitaries, emphasized inter-ministerial cooperation and the importance of public vigilance and national unity. The event commemorates 150 years of ‘Vande Mataram’, highlighting the song’s role in India’s freedom struggle. The MoS Home stressed the need for public involvement in coastal security, praising the CISF’s role in maritime and port security.
The Coastal Cyclothon featured performances of ‘Vande Mataram’ and a CISF Band, evoking patriotism among attendees. The initiative, aligned with the national vision of Viksit Bharat @2047, focuses on women empowerment and youth engagement. With 50% female cyclists, the event promotes gender inclusivity and fitness-led public interaction to inspire national service.
