Jaipur, Aug 15 (IANS) On the occasion of Independence Day, the main state-level celebration was held with grandeur at Rajasthan’s Bikaner’s historic Dr Karni Singh Stadium, where Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma hoisted the national flag and took the salute at the ceremonial parade.

The stadium echoed with patriotic songs, while tricolour flags and enthusiastic crowds added to the festive atmosphere.

At the beginning of his address, Sharma paid tribute to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for India’s freedom, freedom fighters, and soldiers guarding the nation’s borders.

He said Rajasthan, known as the land of heroes, has a proud history of sacrifice, courage, and patriotism.

Several prominent leaders and senior officials attended the state-level ceremony. Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal was present, along with Chief Secretary V. Srinivas and Director General of Police (DGP) Rajiv Sharma.

Extending Independence Day greetings to the people of Rajasthan, Chief Minister Sharma spoke about India’s economic progress and the goal of building a Viksit Bharat (Developed India) by 2047 under Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

He said Rajasthan is moving from “resolve to realisation” and highlighted the government’s focus on water security.

According to the CM, a Rs 91,000-crore scheme will help provide drinking water to 40 per cent of the state’s population, while efforts are also underway to improve water availability in the Shekhawati region.

Sharma also outlined major decisions and public welfare initiatives undertaken by the state government. The Chief Minister used his Independence Day address to present a roadmap for Viksit Rajasthan (Developed Rajasthan).

He highlighted ongoing work in infrastructure, healthcare, education, and solar energy, including development in border and remote areas such as Bikaner.

The state government’s focus, he said, is on translating its development commitments into tangible results and contributing to the broader national goal of a developed India.

The ceremony concluded with vibrant patriotic performances by school students and cultural troupes. Their performances captivated the thousands of spectators gathered at Dr Karni Singh Stadium, bringing the Independence Day celebrations to a spirited close.
