Bhubaneswar, July 31 (IANS) Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Friday met the Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi and discussed a range of issues, including a Naxal-free Odisha, rapid industrialisation, cooperative sector development, law and order, internal security, and the implementation of welfare schemes.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister said that Odisha is moving rapidly on a new path of development, progress and prosperity under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and with the continuous guidance and encouragement of the Union Home Minister Shah.

Chief Minister Majhi briefed Union Minister Shah on the state’s development initiatives, law and order situation, internal security, and key welfare programmes.

He sought continued support from the Centre to further strengthen Odisha’s development journey.

The Chief Minister thanked the Union Home Minister, saying that Odisha has now earned recognition as a “Naxal-free state” due to his strong leadership.

He also said that the success in eliminating Left-Wing Extremism has created a favourable environment for socio-economic development.

Chief Minister Majhi added that, under the Gramodaya Yojana, the state government is ensuring the effective implementation of all Central and state welfare schemes in the erstwhile Naxal-affected areas.

He also told Union Minister Shah that proactive policing has helped maintain law and order in the state.

He highlighted Odisha’s rapid industrial growth over the past two years and sought the Centre’s support in strengthening industrial security to sustain the pace of investment and development.

The Chief Minister also thanked the Centre for extending support to the cooperative sector, particularly for the revival of sugar mills in Odisha.

Highlighting the achievements of the state’s “double-engine government”, Chief Minister Majhi said the administration has earned public confidence through direct public outreach and prompt grievance redressal.

He also outlined the state’s major development and welfare initiatives.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah appreciated the Odisha government’s development-oriented and welfare-driven initiatives and assured the Chief Minister of the Centre’s full support in fulfilling the aspirations of the people of Odisha.

The Chief Minister also held crucial discussions with Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, NITI Aayog member K.V. Raju and the Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister on various issues.
