The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) stated that their protest at Jantar Mantar would persist even though innovator and climate activist Sonam Wangchuk concluded his 26-day hunger strike. The party emphasized that the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan remained their primary demand. CJP spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka mentioned that they had urged Wangchuk to end his hunger strike due to health concerns, and Wangchuk managed to secure assurances from the government on two protester demands.
Ranka clarified that the protest would go on until the Education Minister’s resignation was met. He stressed, “The protest at Jantar Mantar will continue until Dharmendra Pradhan resigns.” Wangchuk halted his hunger strike after receiving commitments from the government and Members of Parliament to discuss issues related to examination paper leaks and education system accountability in Parliament.
Furthermore, Ranka disclosed that a meeting between CJP representatives and Union ministers, including J.P. Nadda and possibly Jitendra Singh, was scheduled for later in the day. The meeting occurred amidst ongoing political discussions on examination reforms, paper leaks, and demands for accountability from student groups and Opposition parties. The Centre has affirmed its commitment to addressing concerns seriously and implementing stricter measures against examination irregularities.
