Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal led a review meeting with officials of the National Productivity Council (NPC) to enhance collaboration between departments, strengthen institutional capacities, and implement best practices for improved productivity and service delivery.
The focus of the meeting was on developing a more integrated and efficient administrative framework for the future. The NPC is working towards a vision to enhance India’s productivity ecosystem, aligning with the goal of achieving a $30 trillion economy.
Emphasizing the importance of productivity enhancements, the Council Chairman highlighted the need for competitive pricing, cost efficiency, and a conducive business environment. He stressed the significance of technological advancements and process re-engineering for sustained global competitiveness.
The NPC is dedicated to maximizing productivity in MSME clusters, which are seen as vital for economic growth and job creation. These clusters serve as hubs of collective efficiency, providing shared infrastructure, testing facilities, design centers, and knowledge exchange opportunities.
The NPC is spearheading a nationwide productivity movement to position India’s MSME sector as a key player in economic transformation. It has introduced various initiatives such as an Industry 4.0 Readiness Assessment Framework, an Indian Productivity Rating System, and a Learning & Development Centre to integrate productivity tools into entrepreneurial training.
Youth engagement programs, including national competitions and the proposed “Pro-Talks” platform, are part of the NPC’s efforts. Additionally, the establishment of the India Centre for BRICS Industrial Competencies aims to enhance international collaboration in boosting productivity.
