Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal spoke at the opening Ministerial Plenary Session in Toronto, Canada, under the theme ‘From Political Reset to Commercial Delivery.’ Goyal highlighted India’s efforts to improve the ease of doing business and create a favorable environment for investors. He encouraged Canadian businesses to actively participate in India’s growth story and emphasized the role of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) in boosting trade and investment.
Goyal expressed confidence in the future of economic ties between India and Canada, emphasizing trust as the driver of shared prosperity. Following trade discussions in Ottawa, Goyal led an Indian business delegation in Toronto for industry roundtables and B2B engagements to solidify commercial partnerships across key sectors. The visit builds on the commitment made by Prime Ministers Narendra Modi and Mark Carney in 2026, aiming to elevate bilateral trade from $8.5 billion to $50 billion by 2030.
The Indian delegation, led by Goyal, marks a significant step in revitalizing economic relations between India and Canada. The visit focuses on enhancing bilateral trade and economic cooperation, with a specific emphasis on advancing negotiations for the India-Canada Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA).
