Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal met with Spain’s Minister of Industry and Tourism, Jordi Hereu, to discuss enhancing collaboration between India and Spain in various sectors like trade, investment, manufacturing, and tourism. Goyal emphasized the importance of strengthening industrial partnerships and resilient supply chains for mutual benefits.
Goyal highlighted the potential for India and Spain to increase their bilateral trade and investments by tenfold over the next decade. He identified areas such as advanced manufacturing, mobility, sustainability, and culture as key areas for cooperation between the two countries.
Speaking at the India-Spain Business Forum, Goyal stressed the need for promoting the free flow of goods and services to boost trade and investment relations between the two nations. He outlined strategies to achieve this goal, including deeper investment ties, leveraging opportunities from the India-EU Free Trade Agreement, and enhancing government-to-government relations.
Goyal expressed optimism about the India-EU Free Trade Agreement, noting the alignment of member states and businesses in both regions. He emphasized the significant trade and economic potential between the EU and India, spanning various sectors like technology, tourism, and defense.
