Commercial flight operations will start at the newly developed Noida International Airport on Monday, a significant step in Uttar Pradesh’s aviation infrastructure progress. IndiGo will be the first airline to offer scheduled services from the airport. The inaugural flight is set to depart from Lucknow’s Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport at 7:05 a.m. and land at the Jewar airport at 8:05 a.m.
The airport, situated in Gautam Buddh Nagar district within the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority area, is a key project of the Uttar Pradesh government. With an initial capacity to handle around 12 million passengers yearly, the airport’s first phase is now complete. It features a runway, an integrated terminal building, and an air traffic control tower, aiming to boost the state’s aviation, logistics, and connectivity capabilities.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation granted the airport its aerodrome license on March 6, 2026. Spanning approximately 1,334 hectares, the project is designed in four phases to accommodate long-term growth in passenger and cargo traffic. By 2040, the airport is projected to handle up to 225 million passengers annually, making it one of the world’s largest airports.
