Around 3,000 athletes from 74 nations will participate in the Commonwealth Games 2026 in Glasgow, Scotland, competing in 10 sports for 215 gold medals. India, making its 19th appearance at the Games since its debut in 1934, will field a 124-member contingent across eight able-bodied sports and five para-sports. The Indian team will kick off their campaign with lawn bowl events in both men’s and women’s categories.

Notably, the Indian Women’s Lawn Bowls Team clinched a historic gold in the women’s fours event at the Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham, marking India’s first-ever medal in lawn bowls. Additionally, the Men’s Fours secured a silver medal, showcasing India’s prowess in the sport.
The Commonwealth Games 2026 will witness its opening ceremony at Glasgow’s Hydro, a renowned venue that has hosted numerous global music stars and events. India’s schedule for Day 1 (July 23) includes the Men’s Singles Group Stage, Women’s Pairs Group Stage in lawn bowls, and the grand opening ceremony later in the day.
