A tragic incident unfolded at Chamad Mata temple in Ahrauli village, Morena district, Madhya Pradesh, where an old temple slab collapsed, claiming the lives of three young girls and injuring several others. The casualties occurred during the demolition of a temple section to build a dome.
The incident occurred while local resident Satish Gaud and his wife Prithi were at the temple for prayers, and young girls were participating in a ritual called ‘kanya poojan.’ An old roof slab fell on the girls during the ceremony, causing fatal injuries. Prompt rescue efforts were initiated by locals present at the scene.
The deceased girls were identified as Vaishnavi Sikawar (11), Karishma Goswami (9), and Chhaya Goswami (7), while the injured, receiving treatment at Morena district hospital, included Gunjan Singh (12), Pari Singh (8), and Vidya Singh (6). Satish Gaud, his wife, and daughter were also injured and hospitalized following the tragic incident.
Jaura Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Shubham Sharma and local authorities responded swiftly to the scene, coordinating rescue operations and transferring the injured to Kailaras Hospital for medical care. The temple, established around 150 years ago, witnessed the collapse of an old structure during the construction process, leading to the unfortunate loss of lives.
