Fellow Congress MP Varsha Gaikwad raised concerns about the treatment of Opposition members in Parliament, noting disparities in speaking opportunities between the ruling party and the Opposition. Gaikwad emphasized the necessity for uniform application of parliamentary rules and called for the Speaker to act impartially. She stressed the need to avoid bias and ensure equal participation for all members.
Adding to the dissent, Congress MP Jothimani Sennimalai mentioned that women MPs had raised objections to baseless accusations and unfair practices in the House. Sennimalai highlighted the ongoing protest initiated after the Leader of the Opposition was denied a chance to speak. She questioned the validity of responses in the absence of proper discussions, emphasizing the importance of allowing all voices to be heard.
Congress MP Karti Chidambaram criticized the frequent adjournments of the House by the government, expressing disappointment over the hindrance to parliamentary proceedings. Chidambaram condemned the denial of speaking time to the Leader of the Opposition, likening it to unnecessary censorship. The Congress party reiterated its stance that curbing debates and dissent undermines the core principles of parliamentary democracy.
