The Congress criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the theft of donations meant for the Ram Temple, holding him responsible due to his claim of credit for all achievements. Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate emphasized that Modi’s silence on the issue was unacceptable, especially after he took exclusive credit for various matters. She highlighted the significance of the stolen donations, describing it as an assault on the faith and trust of millions of Hindu donors. Shrinate also questioned the handling of the case, pointing out multiple theft incidents within a short period, which she deemed unprecedented in history.
Shrinate further raised concerns about the individuals involved in the investigation, particularly questioning the appointment of Vijay Vishwas Pant to lead the Special Investigation Team, given his own legal issues. She criticized the lack of transparency in the investigative process, noting that the SIT report had not been disclosed to the public. Additionally, she expressed doubts about the trust’s general secretary and his associate being excluded from the investigation, stating that mere resignations were insufficient responses to the situation.
The Congress leader delved into the specifics of the trust’s operations, highlighting questionable decisions such as hiring a private security agency at a high cost despite existing security measures by the police and central forces. She also scrutinized the trust treasurer’s practices, pointing out lax oversight of financial matters related to the temple. Shrinate underscored the political affiliations of the trust members, alleging that their selection was based solely on their ties to the RSS, raising concerns about potential conflicts of interest.
