The Congress has declared a Rs 50,000 ex gratia aid for families affected by a tragic road accident in Madhya Pradesh’s Chhindwara district. Leader of Opposition in Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly, Umang Singhar, revealed this decision during a press conference in Bhopal. The party aims to provide financial support to the families of each deceased victim.
Expressing sympathy for the affected families, Singhar extended wishes for the swift recovery of the injured individuals receiving treatment at Chhindwara district hospital and AIIMS, Nagpur. Singhar highlighted the absence of a ‘Uniform Compensation Policy’ by the state government for accident victims and their families. He emphasized the need for a streamlined compensation process to avoid bureaucratic delays.
Singhar criticized the government for the absence of a ‘Single Window Clearance System’ that complicates the compensation process for families. He noted that the current system requires families to navigate multiple offices for document submission, leading to delays in receiving full compensation. Singhar urged for the implementation of a more efficient system to expedite compensation disbursement.
Madhya Pradesh Congress chief Jitu Patwari visited Chhindwara to offer condolences and support to the affected families. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav also met with the families of the deceased citizens and announced an increase in ex gratia aid from Rs 4 lakh to Rs 8 lakh per deceased individual. Yadav assured the families of government support during this challenging period.
Yadav visited the Chhindwara district hospital to check on the injured victims and ensure they receive proper medical care. He directed medical staff to provide necessary treatment and arranged for potential referrals to advanced medical facilities if needed. The tragic accident, which occurred when a bus collided with a goods-laden vehicle and overturned, resulted in the loss of at least 10 lives.
