The Congress criticized the formation of a task force on exam reforms led by Nandan Nilekani, viewing it as an attempt to repair Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s tarnished reputation. Jairam Ramesh, Congress MP, expressed disapproval on social media, highlighting the government’s previous committee failures in handling examinations like NEET-UG. Ramesh pointed out the delay in implementing recommendations from a prior committee and accused the new task force of being a strategic move to salvage the Prime Minister’s damaged image.
Prime Minister Modi recently announced the establishment of a task force for exam reforms with Nandan Nilekani at the helm, aiming to enhance the credibility of future examinations. The decision to involve Nilekani, known for his work on Aadhaar, followed student protests over alleged paper leaks and the subsequent resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. The task force, besides Nilekani, comprises experts like former ISRO Chairman S. Somnath, former IB Director Tapan Deka, and others, as per an official statement.
