The Congress has strongly criticized the Uttarakhand government for its handling of the theft case involving donations at the Badrinath Temple. Amid the Char Dham Yatra, the temple, a significant site of Sanatan Dharm in Chamoli, Uttarakhand, has been under scrutiny due to alleged irregularities in offerings. Following social media claims and similarities to the Ram Temple donation embezzlement controversy, the Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee filed an FIR, prompting a high-level committee’s formation by the Pushkar Singh Dhami government for a thorough investigation.
The Uttarakhand Congress President, Ganesh Godiyal, expressed dissatisfaction with the ongoing investigation, calling for a more transparent and bipartisan approach. He emphasized the need for an all-party committee, led by an Opposition figure, to ensure a fair inquiry into the matter. Godiyal raised concerns over the committee’s integrity, drawing parallels to a previous murder case investigation, and questioned the credibility of the current probe.
In response to the allegations, Chief Minister Dhami condemned the potential irregularities at the Badrinath Temple, equating them to a grave sin. He vowed strict action against those responsible, highlighting the seriousness of the issue. Dhami assured that the law would prevail, promising accountability and punishment for any wrongdoing uncovered during the investigation.
