The Congress party has intensified its criticism of the BJP regarding alleged financial irregularities at the Ayodhya Ram Temple. AICC General Secretary, K.C. Venugopal, highlighted the diversion of temple funds as a significant financial scandal involving misappropriation of donations from devotees. He criticized the ongoing Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe, accusing BJP-led governments of shielding the culprits.
Venugopal raised concerns about the erasure of CCTV footage and alleged negligence in responding to security warnings, suggesting a cover-up. He questioned the government’s reluctance to order a Supreme Court-monitored judicial inquiry if there was no wrongdoing. The Congress plans to address this issue vigorously during the upcoming Parliament session and seek a response from Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The party also announced its intention to escalate a nationwide campaign against corruption in the guise of faith. Venugopal accused the BJP of exploiting religious sentiments for political and financial gains, citing similar irregularities in temples at Badrinath and Kedarnath. He criticized the mismanagement of places of worship under BJP rule, linking it to a broader pattern of exploitation for political purposes.
