The All India Congress Committee has established a new Political Affairs Committee for the Uttarakhand Pradesh Congress Committee. This decision, approved by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, is now in effect. The committee comprises a mix of senior national and state leaders aimed at strengthening the party’s organizational structure in Uttarakhand.
Prominent members of the reconstituted committee include Kumari Selja, Ganesh Godiyal, Yashpal Arya, Harish Rawat, and others. This move is perceived as a crucial step by the Congress high command to unite different factions within the Uttarakhand unit and gear up for future electoral challenges in the hill state. The inclusion of experienced leaders like former Chief Minister Harish Rawat is expected to enhance strategic depth and unity within the state unit.
The reconstitution of the committee comes at a pivotal juncture as the Congress endeavors to reclaim its position in Uttarakhand, a state long governed by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). This restructuring reflects the party’s renewed emphasis on reinforcing state-level decision-making bodies. The development is anticipated to enhance coordination and elevate the party’s performance in Uttarakhand, signaling the high command’s commitment to overhauling the state organization.
With a diverse array of leaders now part of the Political Affairs Committee, the Congress aims to present a cohesive front and effectively challenge the ruling party in the state in the days ahead.
