The Congress high command has emphasized a zero-tolerance policy towards indiscipline and public airing of party issues. Senior party leaders, including Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, KC Venugopal, and others, met to discuss party matters. The meeting, attended by leaders from Punjab, focused on maintaining discipline and addressing internal issues within the party.
Briefing reporters after the meeting, KC Venugopal highlighted the importance of maintaining discipline and refraining from making public statements on internal matters. He clarified that any leadership change in Punjab was not under consideration. Responding to reports of leaders seeking appointments, Venugopal stated that individual meetings with leadership were acceptable, but groupism would not be tolerated.
Venugopal reiterated the party’s commitment to providing representation to marginalized sections, including Dalits and economically weaker sections. Emphasizing unity, he stated that the Congress party stands united and will contest the Punjab elections collectively. Bhupesh Baghel echoed the sentiment, emphasizing the party’s stance against groupism and indiscipline.
