The ruling Congress has escalated its criticism of Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy regarding the violence surrounding the Bidadi Township Project survey. Allegations suggest that the unrest was politically motivated to tarnish Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar’s image. Congress MLA H.C. Balakrishna accused Kumaraswamy of backing the protests, while Minister Eshwar Khandre criticized the Minister’s stance on environmental issues.
Protests against the project have heightened, with farmers threatening extreme measures if the land survey resumes. Balakrishna blamed Kumaraswamy for the violence in Mandalahalli village, accusing him of inciting farmers. He claimed that the Bidadi Township Project was Kumaraswamy’s brainchild, insinuating political motives behind the opposition.
Balakrishna defended the government’s actions, stating that the land survey was voluntary and necessary for compensation. He justified filing FIRs against protesting farmers, citing attacks on government officials. Minister Khandre echoed similar sentiments, accusing Kumaraswamy of political maneuvering over the project and demanding accountability.
