Congress Legislature Party leader, Vijay Wadettiwar, criticized the Maharashtra government for its handling of student protests related to NEET paper leaks. He condemned the use of force against peaceful student demonstrators and accused the police of threatening to plant drugs on them. Wadettiwar stressed the importance of addressing students’ concerns with empathy and upholding democratic values.
Highlighting the support of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for student issues, Wadettiwar mentioned that the party has organized demonstrations across the state. He called on the central and state governments to listen to public sentiment and resolve the grievances of the students. Wadettiwar criticized the government for failing to maintain transparency in examination procedures and urged them to take responsibility for the leaks.
Addressing the crisis facing farmers, Wadettiwar accused the Maharashtra government of inflating figures on farm loan waivers. He demanded transparency regarding the waiver lists to prevent farmers from being cheated. Earlier, Maharashtra Congress leaders protested against the BJP for their treatment of protesting students and Congress members. The protest march towards the BJP office was intercepted by the police, leading to the detention of Congress leaders.
