Senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha MP, Vivek Tankha, has strongly appealed to the Madhya Pradesh Cyber Police to release three IT Cell workers who have been in custody for 27 hours. Tankha expressed surprise and disappointment at the police’s actions, deeming the detention unjustified.

The case revolves around a letter allegedly linked to former Rajasthan Chief Minister, Vasundhara Raje, which went viral on April 15 or 16. The workers tweeted about the letter on April 18, leading to their detention by the Bhopal-based cyber cell.

Tankha argued that the police action was unwarranted as the letter was already public. He warned that if the workers are not released promptly, Congress advocates will challenge the arrest in the Madhya Pradesh High Court in Jabalpur.

Madhya Pradesh Congress President, Jitu Patwari, also criticized the targeting of Congress workers, questioning the sequence of events. Patwari endorsed the points in the letter and challenged the government to take action against all who shared it on social media platforms.

The political debate in Madhya Pradesh has escalated, with Congress leaders accusing the Chief Minister-led administration of stifling dissent. The Congress party vows legal action and calls for a thorough investigation into the letter’s implications.
