Amid the leadership struggle in Karnataka, Congress MLA Iqbal Hussain stated that 80 to 90 MLAs in the party support Deputy CM D. K. Shivakumar for Chief Minister. Hussain mentioned that many legislators feel Shivakumar deserves the position due to his hard work and dedication. He emphasized the importance of this decision for governance and upcoming elections.

According to sources, the Congress leadership is concerned about some MLAs close to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah going on a foreign tour. AICC General Secretary Randeep Singh Surjewala has requested the names of these MLAs. The foreign trip was reportedly organized to address the leadership issue in the state.

State Animal Husbandry Minister K. Venkatesh disclosed that he declined an invitation to join the foreign tour, clarifying that it was not organized by his ministry. Responding to the situation, Siddaramaiah mentioned that the legislators funding their own trips abroad. Meanwhile, Shivakumar hinted at a potential leadership change, mentioning discussions with national leaders in New Delhi.
