Congress MLA Manohar Prasad Singh has replied to the party’s disciplinary committee chairman, Kapildev Prasad Yadav, regarding his absence during the 2026 Rajya Sabha elections in the Bihar Assembly. Singh, representing the Manihari Assembly constituency, expressed concerns about the alleged involvement of AIMIM in supporting the Grand Alliance candidate.

Singh criticized AIMIM, labeling it as the “B-team” of the BJP and a communal party, highlighting ideological contradictions with the Congress. He mentioned the Grand Alliance’s lack of sufficient votes for victory and explained his decision to abstain from voting due to this numerical disadvantage.

Stressing on political and ethical concerns, Singh emphasized the inconsistency of aligning with a party previously criticized, likening it to compromising the party’s principles. He distanced himself from the candidate selection process and raised questions about the alliance’s reliance on AIMIM’s support.

Singh defended his absence, stating that even if he and other MLAs had voted, the Grand Alliance candidate’s defeat would have been certain. The controversy has escalated internal tensions within the opposition alliance in Bihar post the Rajya Sabha elections setback.
