Congress legislators in Madhya Pradesh Assembly staged a symbolic protest criticizing the BJP-led state government for what they termed as empty promises and hollow announcements. Led by Leader of the Opposition Umang Singhar, the MLAs gathered holding empty plates, symbolizing the metaphorical “khyayli pulao” being served to the people of Madhya Pradesh. Singhar accused the government of relying on mere rhetoric while ground realities present a starkly different scenario.
He highlighted the lack of significant job creation despite repeated promises, leaving many young people unemployed with only assurances. The delay in the Ladli Behna scheme, where women were promised Rs 3000 monthly assistance, was also pointed out. Singhar criticized the government for failing to address rising electricity bills and shortages in the health sector, as well as the unfulfilled promises in the agricultural and educational sectors.
The opposition leader emphasized that the protest was not a mere political gesture but a genuine representation of the struggles faced by the citizens of Madhya Pradesh. He vowed to continue raising these issues until tangible changes are implemented, asserting that the Congress party will persist in advocating for the rights and future of the state’s residents.
