Congress MLAs in the Rajasthan Assembly staged a walkout during Zero Hour in protest against the alleged rape and murder of a minor girl in Bikaner, leading to a commotion in the House. The walkout ensued after a heated argument between Congress and BJP MLAs regarding the tragic incident.
Dungaram Gedar, a Congress MLA, brought up the issue during Zero Hour, urging for immediate action to be taken. Minister of State for Home Affairs Jawahar Singh Bedham assured that the police investigation is underway, with the minor’s body in the mortuary and the culprits expected to be apprehended soon.
Tikaram Jully, the Leader of the Opposition in the Rajasthan Assembly, criticized the delay in arrests, expressing concerns over the rising crimes against girls. The government Chief Whip Jogeshwar Garg accused the Opposition of politicizing the matter, while Bedham labeled it as “cheap politics.” Jully defended the inquiry, stating that questioning the progress of the investigation is not political.
Following the intense exchange, the Leader of the Opposition declared a walkout, prompting Congress MLAs to leave the House. During the walkout, the Speaker reprimanded Congress MLA Manish Yadav for attempting to speak after walking out, emphasizing that such behavior would not be tolerated.
In a separate incident, a 13-year-old girl was discovered dead under suspicious circumstances in Bikaner, sparking outrage among locals who alleged that she was raped. The girl, who was on her way to take her Class 8 exams, went missing, leading to a search operation that ended tragically when her body was found in a forest area. The police assured a thorough investigation from all angles, including technical evidence scrutiny.
