Congress MP Kishori Lal Sharma asserted that he was prevented from having darshan at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, alleging that the Uttar Pradesh Police and administration compelled him to go to the airport. This incident follows the reported house arrest of Uttar Pradesh Congress President Ajay Rai in Ayodhya before his planned visit to the Ram Mandir.
Earlier, the Congress party accused that Rai and a group of party leaders were obstructed from visiting the temple. Sharma expressed, “They did not allow me to have darshan. Instead, the police and the local administration forcibly took me to the airport. But they will not be able to deprive me of darshan.”
Sharma further mentioned, “For how many days will they keep stopping me? I even told them, ‘Keep my identity card with you. Just allow me to have darshan like an ordinary citizen.’ But the administration was not ready for that either.” He criticized the house arrest of Congress leaders, stating that it reflects the fear of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
Criticizing the situation, Congress’s Uttar Pradesh In-charge Rajendra Pal Gautam remarked, “Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is scared, his self-confidence has broken and he is scared to lose power.” He highlighted the contrasting treatment of AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal’s visit to the temple with full police protection compared to the house arrest of Congress leaders.
