Congress MP Karti Chidambaram expressed support for actor-politician Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) to lead the government in Tamil Nadu following the state Assembly polls. The Congress emphasized the need for a government free from “communal forces” and aligned with constitutional values.
The electoral outcome, where no party secured a clear majority, saw TVK emerge victorious with 108 seats. Karti Chidambaram highlighted that the people of Tamil Nadu voted for a change from traditional political factions and endorsed Vijay’s leadership.
Acknowledging the mandate, Chidambaram noted that while the people supported Vijay to form the government, they also expected collaboration with other parties for a stable administration. He emphasized the importance of forming a secular and stable government in Tamil Nadu.
Reiterating the Congress’s stance, Karti Chidambaram emphasized the party’s commitment to ensuring a secular government in the state and preventing any entry of communal forces into power. The Congress’s support to TVK is contingent on upholding these principles for a durable and inclusive governance model.
