Ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections in Punjab, the Congress party has affirmed its commitment to the existing state party leadership. Amarinder Singh Raja Warring will continue as the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) President, as confirmed by the party high command. Partap Singh Bajwa will also retain his position as the Leader of Opposition.
Former Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi has been appointed as the election campaign committee chairperson, while MP Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa will serve as the chairman of the core committee. Amar Singh, another Member of Parliament, will lead the manifesto committee.
Vijay Inder Singla, a former state minister, has been named chairman of the election management and coordination committee. Additionally, Sukhwinder Danny, Raj Kumar Verka, and Sangat Gilzian have been appointed as working presidents of the Punjab Congress. The campaign committee, under Channi’s leadership, will include Sukhpal Khaira, Rana Gurjeet Singh, and Dharamvira Gandhi as co-chairpersons.
The election management and coordination committee, overseen by Singla, will be supported by co-chairpersons O.P. Soni, Razia Sultana, Kuljit Nagra, Angad Saini, and Bharat Bhushan Ashu. Similarly, Gurjeet Aujla, Pargat Singh, Hardial Kamboj, and Sukhbinder Sarkaria will serve as co-chairpersons of the manifesto committee under Amar Singh’s guidance.
Several meetings were recently held at the AICC headquarters in New Delhi to discuss potential changes in the party’s leadership. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, along with Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi and other key members, deliberated on this matter.
