The Congress expressed satisfaction as the court granted bail to Indian Youth Congress chief Uday Bhanu Chib in connection with the shirtless protest at the India AI Impact Summit in Delhi. The Patiala House Court’s duty magistrate released Chib on a personal bond of Rs 50,000.
Congress MP Pramod Tiwari hailed the decision, emphasizing the triumph of truth and justice. Tiwari criticized the government, accusing it of authoritarianism and likening its actions to a dictatorship. He welcomed the bail for Chib, who he believed was falsely implicated.
Pappu Yadav, a Purnea MP, also lauded the court’s decision and condemned the government’s approach. Yadav highlighted the dangers of governance turning authoritarian and the erosion of the rule of law. He criticized the government for targeting individuals defending the nation’s dignity and expressed concerns over the accountability of those undermining India’s integrity.
The Delhi Police Crime Branch sought an extension of Uday Bhanu Chib’s custody remand, but the court granted him bail after finding insufficient grounds for the extension. Chib was instructed to surrender his passport and electronic devices. The charges against Chib relate to his alleged role in organizing an unlawful assembly during the AI Impact Summit and Expo 2026, where anti-Modi slogans were raised and provocative actions were taken.
