Amid the controversy surrounding the encounter death of Bharat Tiwari in Bhojpur, a Constable at the Motihari Police Lines, Ashish Kumar Tiwari, has been suspended. This action follows his public statements about the case, where he identified himself as Bharat Tiwari’s brother and commented on the incident. The suspension came after a departmental enquiry conducted by the East Champaran police administration.

Ashish Kumar Tiwari’s statements, made on social media and to media organizations, led to his suspension. The East Champaran Superintendent of Police, Swarn Prabhat, confirmed that the suspension was a result of an investigation by the Deputy Superintendent of Police. In a written statement, Prabhat mentioned that the decision was based on the findings of the enquiry report.

A video circulating on social media shows Ashish Kumar Tiwari identifying himself as a Bihar Police Constable and discussing Bharat Tiwari’s death. Following the video’s spread, an enquiry was initiated by the Motihari police. During the enquiry, the Constable was given a chance to explain his actions, but his response was deemed unsatisfactory, leading to his suspension.

The suspension is considered a departmental measure, and any further actions will depend on the outcome of potential disciplinary proceedings. This development occurs amidst ongoing public and political discussions regarding the death of Bharat Bhushan Tiwari, whose encounter in Bhojpur district is currently under judicial review. The police authorities found that Ashish Kumar Tiwari’s conduct on public platforms and social media did not align with the service conduct rules applicable to police personnel.
