The Rajasthan Anti-Corruption Bureau apprehended a contractual worker from the Sojat Road Municipal Council in Pali district for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 25,000 in exchange for issuing a lease for a family’s ancestral plot. The arrest followed a complaint that the worker, Parmanand Sharma, was soliciting the bribe on behalf of municipal officials.
Under the supervision of Deputy Inspector General of Police Narayan Togas, the ACB conducted a successful operation on July 16, 2026, capturing Sharma red-handed while accepting the bribe. The investigation revealed that Sharma, who had retired from the Sojat Road Panchayat, continued working as a contractual employee at the Municipal Council, allegedly in his son’s name.
The Anti-Corruption Bureau plans to scrutinize the legality of Sharma’s employment arrangement with the municipal authorities. Further inquiries are ongoing under the oversight of Additional Director General of Police Smita Srivastava and Inspector General S. Parimala. The ACB will proceed to file a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act and pursue its investigation.
